Infographic: Is This Baby Stool Normal?

Normal Poop Color

Yellow, brown or green poop are all normal colors and will change based on what the baby is eating.

Abnormal Poop Color

Gray, red or black-green mucus-like poop may be warning signs of digestive issues, allergies or infections.

Poop By Types

  • Some food doesn’t digest quickly and may be in poop. This is OK!
  • Runny poop is normal for newborns but may be a warning sign for allergies in older babies.
  • Thicker poops are normal as the baby is introduced to hard food, but pebbles may be a sign of constipation.
