Heart Patient at UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Celebrates 104th Birthday

A cardiologist at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute has once again celebrated another milestone birthday with a special patient who is now 104.
In 2011, at 93 years old, Georgia Dixon, of Cleveland, suffered from disabling shortness of breath. Her cardiologist, Dr. Michel Farah of UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, diagnosed her with severe aortic stenosis. Despite her age, she and her doctor decided surgery to replace her aortic valve was the most promising option. For more than 10 years Georgia has improved and stayed strong. At her most recent appointment with Dr. Farah at UH Minoff Health Center at Chagrin Highlands, Dr. Farah’s staff honored Georgia with a cake for her 104th birthday.
“It has been a joy to follow Georgia’s health for more than a decade and to see her walk in and out of my office happy and healthy,” said Dr. Farah. “It’s not likely she would be alive to celebrate 104 years if we hadn’t operated on her aortic valve 11 years ago.”
Georgia will continue care with UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, visiting Dr. Farah twice annually.
