Our Fellows
We welcome applications from physicians who are committed to pursuing stimulating and satisfying careers in the field of pediatric emergency medicine and to contributing to the advancement of our field. Fellows in our program must be willing to apply their knowledge, skills, time, effort, and enthusiasm to providing excellent patient care in a compassionate, family-centered manner within a dynamic and educationally-stimulating environment. Individuals in our program pursue the advancement of their knowledge and skills with the guidance and mentorship or our division faculty. Fellows applying to our program should be prepared to design, complete, and disseminate the results of a fellowship scholarly project based on their own unique professional interests, with guidance from our division faculty, other faculty members within our institution, as well as additional resources available through Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Those applying to our program should possess intellectual curiosity, a strong desire to continuously learn and grow as a pediatric emergency medicine professional, a willingness to teach and mentor others, and a commitment to caring for children utilizing a team-based approach.
Individuals who have successfully completed an ACGME-accredited residency program in pediatrics OR emergency medicine, and who are either board-certified or board-eligible in pediatrics or emergency medicine are welcome to apply to our program. Fellows who are pediatric or EM board-eligible must become board-certified during their fellowship in order to be eligible for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine sub-board.

Why I chose Rainbow: I felt incredibly welcomed on my interview day and everyone I met was excited about the program. I knew that I would be able to get the training, volume, and acuity to become a good PEM physician in a city like Cleveland, and the program has been enthusiastic in tailoring my experiences to get the most out of my fellowship. I’m not from the area, but Cleveland has been a fun city on my few trips there and I’m excited to explore more!

Why I chose Rainbow: Rainbow offered opportunities to grow and learn in multiple areas besides training (e.g., global health, mentorship in career, etc.). But my main reason is that I was looking for a place where everyone knows each other and cares about each other’s success. During my interview, you could tell this was a close-knit group, and I immediately knew I could see myself here for fellowship.

Emily White, MD

Professional Interest: I am interested in pediatric readiness, especially for healthcare workers who primarily see adult patients, helping make sure that they are comfortable and prepared to handle various aspects of pediatric care. I am also interested in POCUS for both adult and pediatric patients.
Personal Interest: Spending time with my family including my 3-year-old golden retriever, spending time outdoors, hiking and camping, weightlifting, crossfit and baking.
Why I chose Rainbow: I chose rainbow for various factors including the people, support and flexibility given my emergency medicine background, and being closer to my family.
