Personalized Approach for Allergy & Immunology Patients
The UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Division of Allergy & Immunology is led by a team of experts who act as a hub for a multidisciplinary approach to determine personalized, multidisciplinary treatment for the following conditions.
Allergy-Induced Asthma
Our team provides treatments, such as allergy immunotherapy and targeted biologic therapy through a multi-disciplinary collaboration with pulmonary, aerodigestive and sleep medicine experts. Diagnostics offered include complete pulmonary function, exercise challenge, testing for common environmental allergens, exhaled nitric oxide measurement, and imaging.
Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic Dermatitis is treated within our division using biologic and molecular therapeutics in collaboration with pediatric dermatology.
Drug and Latex Allergies
As leaders in the area, our team offers the following procedures for drug and latex allergies:
- drug desensitization
- skin and drug provocation testing for drug allergies
- evaluation of latex allergies
Allergic Rhinitis, Chronic Sinusitis and Nasal Polyps
Our team offers treatment for allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps include immunotherapy, biologics and molecular therapeutics. Skin and blood tests are also offered.
Eosinophilic Disorders
The Division of Allergy and Immunology is a nationally recognized eosinophilia referral center and includes a team of experts who evaluate each patient to develop a multidisciplinary diagnostic approach for eosinophilic disorders and partner with with experts in hematology/oncology, pulmonary, dermatology and gastroenterology.
Food Allergy
Our division offers a unique service for patients with food allergies. Our team of experts offer a comprehensive care approach for all food allergy associated needs. A dedicated food allergy dietician is provided for food management, and we offer a multi-disciplinary food psychologist to our patients. Food allergy tests offered include skin testing, laboratory testing, food challenges and other innovative treatment options.
Hives & Angioedema
Our team specializes in identification of histaminergic and non-histaminergic causes of angioedema and focus on treatments including targeted therapeutics. In addition to traditional management of chronic urticaria and angioedema, we specialize in biologic and immune modulator therapy.
Inborn Errors of Immunity Clinic
The division also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment for patients with inborn errors of immunity (IEI). Early referrals of at-risk patient populations to the clinic offers clinical immunology evaluation, inpatient consultations, and genetic evaluation. Learn more about our inclusion criteria.
Venom Allergies
Our team diagnose venom allergies with skin and blood tests and offer immunotherapy as a treatment option.
