Curriculum

Residents of the Family Medicine program gain experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. They also participate in formal teaching in the nursing home setting and participate in several community outreach events and programs. This comprehensive approach allows our residents to further enhance their training and practice of medicine while also shaping them to become better physicians.

Our curriculum allows for flexibility and is designed to help each resident meet their own individual interests while at the same time providing each resident a high-quality educational experience.

At the Family Medicine Clinic, residents see their own panel of patients under the guidance of our faculty. There is a large population of patients, which allows each resident to see a consistent variance in patient demographics, diagnoses and procedures. Residents often have opportunities to interact and teach medical students and interns in the clinic.

A sample of our didactic curriculum includes osteopathic medicine, behavioral health, women’s health, pediatrics, practice management and nursing home care. We also participate in quarterly medical simulation and skills procedure labs.
