Case Western Reserve University - University Hospitals Critical Care Fellowship
The Department of Anesthesiology and Division of Critical Care Medicine is proud to offer an ACGME accredited fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine. We accept two fellows per year. One fellow is part of the 5-year tract in conjunction with the anesthesiology residency. We offer multidisciplinary training with critical care trained faculty from both anesthesiology and emergency medicine. We are excited to train motivated, passionate, and compassionate applicants. We offer a 1 year fellowship for anesthesiology and surgery-based applicants and a 2 year fellowship for emergency medicine applicants.
Highlights of our fellowship include:
- Multidisciplinary weekly lecture and journal club series
- 20 bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit with active programs in heart and lung transplant, LVAD (left ventricular assist devices), and ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation)
- 20 bed combined trauma and surgical ICU with active liver transplant service and level 1 trauma center
- Leadership training offered through Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management

- Transfusion Medicine
- Perfusion
- Heart Failure Intensive Care Unit
- Community Intensive Care Unit
- Palliative Medicine
- Burn Intensive Care Unit (at MetroHealth)
- Perioperative Leadership and OR management
- Transesophageal Echocardiography
- Critical Care Ultrasound
- Quality and Research
