Lindsay Zombek, MS, CCC-SLP, LSLS Cert AVT completed her 1st year on the Board of Directors of ACIA. Additionally, she co-moderated the Re(Habilitation) Connect Forum and gave a talk titled “Starting an Adult Aural Rehabilitation Program”

Shawn Stevens MD of Barrow ENT presented data on the OSIA Pediatric Multicenter Clinical Trial, which includes data from UH. There was a limit of how many authors to put on the abstract, but the results are currently being written up for publication and all audiologists and ENTs involved will be credited. “Safety and efficacy of the Cochlear Osia® 2 System in a pediatric population: multi-center results” Shawn M. Kristie Snouffer, AuD was a first-time attendee, who enjoyed the presentations and the networking opportunities. She also represented the UH CI team when meeting with Cochlear Americas and ReSound at ACIA to discuss operational needs for our CI clinic.
Viral Tejani, AuD, PhD co-chaired the convention along with Jacob Hunter MD. He also presented two talks on data regarding our SmartNav studies and was featured in a third talk on electrocochleography
- One talk was titled “The Science Behind Nucleus SmartNav: Accuracy and Cost Savings of TransImpedance Matrix Recordings vs X-Ray Imaging,” which was presented as part of the Cochlear Industry Satellite Symposium: "Inspired by a Lifetime of Hearing Performance: Innovations in Cochlear Implant Technology to Maximize Hearing Potential"
- The second talk was titled “Comparisons of Intraoperative TransImpedance Matrix Recordings vs Intraoperative X-rays in Detecting Tip-Foldovers: A Multicenter Study” which featured data from UH, Rocky Mountain Ear Center, Westchester Medical Center, and Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Alex Arambula MD significantly contributed to the data analysis for this study. Credit to Omotayo Agaja, AuD, Nicole Besse, AuD, Anna Braam, AuD, Abby Maurer Jayjack, AuD and Holly Yako, AuD, who collected the majority of intraoperative data on the UH side for these studies.
- The third talk was titled, “Improving real-time feedback during cochlear implantation: considering response ratios and phase”
