Nick Galloway, BSN, RN, CDCES

Nick Galloway, BSN, RN, CDCES, is a Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist at the Diabetes and Obesity Center at University Hospitals. He received his BSN from Ohio University and has over a decade of clinical nursing experience. He serves on the National Board for the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES). Nick specializes in diabetes technology and patient education and explores new research opportunities. For example, he wants to develop a modified continuous glucose monitor ambulatory glucose profile report for patients using guided imagery and easily understood glucose data. He has published peer-reviewed articles in ADCES In Practice and the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and has been an invited speaker at ADA Scientific Sessions.
Ebne Rafi, PharmD

Ebne Rafi, PharmD, is a clinical pharmacist at the UH Diabetes and Obesity Center. He completed his first-year hospital-based residency at South Shore University Hospital as well as a second year ambulatory care residency at Buffalo Medical Group focusing in diabetes management. During his residency, he was involved in improving institutional hyperglycemia rates, optimizing medication protocols, as well as investigating social determinants of health in patients with diabetes. His research interests going forward focus on optimizing practice structure, as well as medication management to improve patient care and outcomes.
Ronya Ozturk, MD

Ronya Ozturk, MD, is an Endocrinology Research Fellow at University Hospitals. She received her MD from Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Her research interests are in diabetes care improvement and glycemic regulation. The Center is the best possible environment to pursue her research interests and projects, and she is very proud to be part of the amazing team. Dr. Ozturk says, "We work together daily to grow, create and improve care for people with diabetes."
Owusua Yamoah, PhD

Owusua Yamoah, PhD, is a Research Scientist at the Mary Ann Swetland Center for Environmental Health and the UH Diabetes Center. She received her Bachelor's degree in Development Planning from Kwame Nkrumah' University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, and her master's degree in Urban Studies with certifications in Land Use Planning and Local Government Management from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She completed her PhD in Spatially Integrated Social Sciences at the University of Toledo in 2019, where she adopted a Spatial Durbin Model and other data exploration techniques to assess the effect of the 2007/2008 Greater Recession on inter-country migration using annual data for all US counties between 2001 and 2010. She completed her Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in 2022.
Dr. Yamoah's clinical research interests at the UH Center include community nutrition, diabetes, population health, food insecurity, and healthcare disparities. She employs geospatial and statistical techniques to large data sets and is well versed in qualitative data analysis methods.
