University Hospitals Ear, Nose & Throat Institute Welcomes New Providers

Innovations in Ear, Nose & Throat | Fall 2024

The University Hospitals Ear, Nose & Throat Institute recently welcomed three distinguished physicians who are offering comprehensive patient care and expanding the institute’s reach to communities throughout Northeast Ohio.

Madelyn Stevens, MD

Madelyn Stevens, MD, is a head and neck surgeon with expert training in the use of advanced robotic surgical techniques, including the novel single-port Da Vinci robotic system. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Dr. Stevens completed her medical education at Duke University School of Medicine. After her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she completed a fellowship in Head-Neck Oncology/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Stevens provides a full range of head and neck care, including microvascular reconstruction and surgical oncology. She has a special interest in resident education and clinical outcomes research.

“This is a bit of a homecoming for Dr. Stevens, and we are thrilled to have her return to Ohio and bring her strengths in all aspects of head and neck surgery to our program,” says Rod Rezaee, MD, Director of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction at the UH Ear, Nose & Throat Institute. “When someone like Dr. Stevens comes to University Hospitals after training with experts at major head and neck institutions, it enables us to continue expanding our horizons and complements the wide range of services we offer our patients.”  Dr. Stevens is also an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Saikrishna Gourishetti, MD, is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon and otolaryngologist at University Hospitals and an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine. He offers all domains of facial plastic surgery, including complex facial reanimation procedures and head and neck microvascular reconstruction.

Dr. Gourishetti completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland and earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. After completing residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Dr. Gourishetti completed a world-renowned fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Johns Hopkins University.

“I sought out Dr. Gourishetti because I commend his dedication to the best possible care for patients and his attention to detail in ensuring every patient receives optimal results,” says Cyrus Rabbani, MD,  Division Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery within the UH Ear, Nose & Throat Institute and Associate Professor at the School of Medicine.

Dr. Gourishetti’s research interests include the role of AI and machine learning in facial plastic surgery, particularly in areas of facial paralysis, rhinoplasty and the aging face. He is also interested in studying novel approaches to improve healthcare delivery using AI technology. Dr. Gourishetti is passionate about global health and improving access to facial plastic surgery worldwide.

Zoe Walters, MD

Zoe Walters, MD, is an otolaryngologist offering comprehensive ENT services, including rhinosinusitis. She divides her time between University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Originally from the Cleveland area, Dr. Walters is a graduate of Colorado College in Colorado Springs. She completed her medical education and a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

“Because Dr. Walters offers comprehensive ENT, she brings expertise to a variety of cases and has a special interest in pediatrics,” says Shawn Li, MD, an otolaryngologist at the UH Ear, Nose & Throat Institute and Assistant Professor at School of Medicine. “We have shared patients who need more complex surgeries.”
