Education & Training
Year One
The fellowship’s first year is dedicated to pediatric allergy/immunology (A/I). It begins with a two-day pollen-counting course and a month-long morning statistics course at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, complemented by clinical activities each afternoon. Fellows rotate through pediatric pulmonology, ENT, and dermatology at the acclaimed University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital.
Year Two
The fellowship’s second year of training focuses on adult A/I. It begins with a basic immunology course in Philadelphia sponsored by the American Academy of Immunology. Throughout the year, fellows rotate through adult pulmonology, ENT and dermatology at University Hospitals’ main campus, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Additionally, they perform one month of bone marrow transplantation and one month in the flow cytometry laboratory. Two months of research are also required.

- Lectures/workshops on the integration of osteopathic concepts in A/I
- Seminar with a focus on faculty development (monthly)
- Participation in regional immunology symposiums (biannually)

- Monthly A/I procedure day (including patch testing, food and drug challenges, and drug desensitizations)
- Consultation assignments (rotated monthly)
Scholarly Activity Requirements (Years One and Two):
- Present and publish a scholarly manuscript by the completion of the fellowship
- Annual A/I fellowship in-service examination
- Co-publish a book chapter
