Biography

Farah Munir, DO, received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Northwestern University and her medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center. After completing psychiatry residency at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Munir joined the faculty of UH Department of Psychiatry and CWRU School of Medicine, and since that time has continued to actively provide clinical education and mentorship to medical students, psychiatry residents and APRNs. She completed the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship (PCPF), and went on to serve as Associate Director from 2011-2021, and has been Co-Director of the Fellowship since 2021. In 2020, Dr. Munir also helped to start the Signature Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Residency Program, which provides support and education for new graduate APRNs as they transition to community practice.

Dr. Munir has been working in both academic medicine and community mental health since the start of her career, providing psychiatric care to adults with severe and persistent mental illness, and those who may struggle to access high quality mental healthcare. She currently serves as Medical Director of Psychiatry for Signature Health, a large, integrated Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with locations in Cuyahoga, Lake and Ashtabula Counties. She has previously served as CMO for Circle Health Services and Medical Director for both the Centers and Recovery Resources in Cuyahoga County. In 2018, Dr. Munir was recognized as a Physician Innovator by Crain’s Cleveland for her leadership at Circle Health Service and the Centers for Families and Children and for her work to advance primary care and behavioral health integration at both organizations, which became affiliated in 2017.

Beyond her academic and clinical administrative roles, Dr. Munir serves as Chair of the Medical Advisory Board for NAMI Greater Cleveland and is a past president of the Cleveland Psychiatric Society. She has been recognized as a a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, serves on the Public Psychiatry and Integrated Care Committees of the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association (OPPA), and is a past Board President of the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF), the charitable arm of the OPPA.

Biography

Erin Murphy received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from John Carroll University in 2007 and MSN in Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 2012. She completed the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in 2013, among the first nurse practitioners to graduate from the program. She became faculty in 2016.

Erin is currently an Associate Director of Psychiatry at The Centers. She began her career there as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in community mental health. Since joining the organization, she has led several initiatives such as development of a high utilizers intervention program, expansion of MAT services, integration of new locations and implementation of integrated care clinics in partnership with Cleveland Clinic. The Centers is now a Federally Qualified Health Center, where Erin has provides psychiatric care for the SMI population, while assisting workflow revisions and service expansions to emphasize true clinical and administrative collaboration.

Beyond training and mentoring in this fellowship, Erin has also focused on role socialization and advanced skill development of newly graduated nurse practitioners within The Centers. As a new graduate APRN in 2012, she participated in their pilot nurse practitioner externship, the program evolved to become The Community Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Fellowship. After completion, Erin accepted the Mentor position in the fellowship, and in 2020 was promoted to Director.
