Active Learning Approach in Didactics Brings Important Topics to Life
In collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship Program at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center utilizes a diversity of approaches to learning and teaching, to include:
- Assigned reading
- Small group discussion
- Group projects and exercise
- Individual projects
- Workshops
Didactic materials cover a variety of topics essential for successful clinical practice and leadership in a public or community setting, including:
- Advocacy
- Health Economics and Finance
- History and Structure of Public Mental Health
- Leadership
- Management
- Population Health
- Social Influencers of Health
- Social Justice
- Team-Based Care
Along with the material covered in class, fellows also participate in a longitudinal, guided leadership development experience, undertaken with the goal of clarifying individual strengths and goals, that serves as a foundation for enhancing their careers post-fellowship.
Combined Training Opportunities
In an increasingly complicated world, we regularly encounter fellows with an interest in more than one fellowship. Within the Public and Community Psychiatry Fellowship curriculum, we can adapt the experience to run concurrently with other fellowships. If you have further questions about combining another fellowship with this one, please contact us for details.
