Research

Research training in the Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Endocrinology Fellowship is an important rotation for fellows in each year of their education. Trainees in the Endocrinology Fellowship Program spend three months of their first year and six months of their second year on the research rotation. This is a required rotation for both years of training.

Duties During Endocrinology Research Training

Trainees maintain their continuity clinics, conferences and other educational activities during the research rotation. However, there is some flexibility depending on the nature and extent of the research project. Fellows choose one or more mentors to guide them through their chosen project. Trainees will spend time in direct one-on-one discussion with a mentor and attend and complete all courses and institutional requirements for conducting clinical research.

Additional teaching in research conduct and practice is often provided through group discussions with other members of the research team, research conferences and Journal Club.
