Meet the Women's Sexual Health Team at UH

UH experts are internationally regarded

Female sexual problems are highly prevalent, affecting at least one in 10 women of all ages.

Yet many women do not realize their sexual concerns are treatable conditions and that it is appropriate to ask their health care professional for help, or for a referral for help.

At UH, we have internationally-regarded experts in the research and treatment of female sexual problems. In fact, we have a team of such experts, and treatment is much more effective when a multidisciplinary team is available to help.

Members of the women’s sexual health team at UH:

• Sheryl Kingsberg, PhD, a clinical psychologist whose specialty is treating female sexual dysfunction. She is an expert in both behavioral medicine and sexual medicine. She also was a principal investigator in studies on Addyi, which has been approved by the FDA and is the first drug designed to assist women with low sexual desire. Dr. Kingsberg is a past president of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH).  
• Jean Marino, CNP, a women’s health certified nurse practitioner with expertise in gynecology, menopause management, sexual health, and vulvar disorders. She has an ISSWSH fellowship designation.  
• Karen Connor, a pelvic floor physical therapist with a special interest in women’s sexual health who can use physical therapy to treat various sexual health problems such as vulvodynia, vaginismus, and painful intercourse
• Erika Kelley, PhD,  a psychologist with a special interest in not only treating women’s sexual health issues through psychotherapy but who also is involved in research in women’s sexual health

To make a referral, call 216-285-5032.  

UH providers also can make referrals through the AEMR by clicking on “FU/REF” tab and then typing in and selecting “sexual medicine referral.” This will be followed up by a call from one of the registered nurses at UH Ahuja Medical Center who will assist in scheduling the patient with the appropriate provider.
