About

Community Hiring

University Hospitals champions the overall well-being of those we serve by supporting the economic health of the communities in which we operate. Connecting residents in those communities to sustainable employment is very important us. We seek to make rewarding healthcare careers accessible by offering a variety of programming options.

Step-Up to UH

Step-Up to UH is our organization’s flagship workforce development program. Initially created to impact residents near our main campus location, the program has become a nationally recognized model of local and inclusive training and hiring. The program is designed to help Cleveland residents obtain careers in our healthcare system, putting them on a path out of poverty and toward a family-sustaining wage. Focused on workforce readiness and healthcare career preparedness, Step Up to UH, in partnership with Towards Employment, helps remove barriers to employment and increase the workplace skills of our residents.

For additional information on upcoming workshops, please contact Towards Employment.

Apprenticeship Opportunities

Apprenticeship Programs (also known as Earn and Learns) offer participants the ability to receive a salary and benefits while completing coursework towards skilled credentials. Earn and Learn programs help participants mitigate their student debt concerns and maintain a healthy work-school-life balance. These programs aim to reduce or eliminate costs associated with tuition, books, other supplies, and other educational resources.

We have apprenticeships for the following career areas (frequency of offerings may vary):

Youth Programming

University Hospitals partners with a variety of schools, organizations and initiatives designed to help this region’s youth be successful. We encourage the early interest of middle and high school students in health careers, and hope to welcome them as UH caregivers in the future. Through exploration, education, and experience, they will begin to enhance the industry and provide high-quality care to patients for generations to come.
