Our Goals

At University Hospitals, we strive to lead local efforts to maintain a robust workforce development system in Northeast Ohio, connecting current UH employees and other residents in the region to new employment opportunities. Our goals are to:

  • Eliminate barriers to career development and advancement.
  • Develop professional potential and increase aspirations.
  • Increase participants’ earning potential and economic impact within their community, which can help move their families out of poverty.
  • Help UH meet its workforce planning needs and contribute to a culture of excellence in healthcare.

A Comprehensive Approach

UH’s workforce development model is based on an outside-in/inside-up approach. Not only do we help those seeking to enter the organization, but we assist caregivers currently employed through ongoing coaching and pathway identification. We provide support from career exploration to recruitment, recruitment to employment and from employment to promotion.

Climbing the Career Ladder

University Hospitals’ workforce development program helped Seth Ofori become a patient care nurse assistant (PCNA) and licensed practical nurse (LPN).

“I contacted the workforce development team and asked them what I needed to do to qualify for this Earn and Learn program. The advice they gave me really helped me to prepare for these wonderful opportunities. UH has incredible career ladders and everyone is welcome to climb.” – Seth Ofori
