For more than 150 years, the health of Northeast Ohio has been our only focus.
University Hospitals calls Northeast Ohio home. Everything we do - from primary care, to pediatrics, to holistic whole health services, to medical research, to specialty care for virtually any illness - we do to better care for everyone in Northeast Ohio.
Our hometown team includes over 32,000 caregivers who are committed to the communities where we live and serve our patients. Supporting the professional, financial, emotional and physical well-being of our caregivers is a top priority for University Hospitals and in 2023, for the second consecutive year, Forbes recognized University Hospitals as one of America’s Best Large Employers, where we earned the #1 spot among all health systems in Ohio.
With hundreds of locations across the region, University Hospitals care is close to home.
Committed to Making Northeast Ohio a Great Place to Live
University Hospitals is dedicated to making Northeast Ohio a better, healthier place to live. This commitment is reflected not just in what we say, but in what we do.
Support our local teams and organizations
Our hometown team cares for your hometown teams. We are the official healthcare partner of the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Ballet and the Cleveland Monsters. In addition, our sports medicine team partners with high schools across the region, providing athletic training services and game-time medical coverage for these young athletes.
Adhere to sustainability and “green” principles
We care not only for our patients, but also for the environment in which we all live. We have been recognized by Practice Greenhealth for our sustainability efforts and all UH medical centers have signed a national Environmentally Friendly Preferable Purchasing Pledge. In addition, our composting efforts across the system have prevented more than 21 tons of food from reaching local landfills. Two of our newer facilities, UH Ahuja Medical Center and UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Ahuja Center for Women and Children, have received national recognition for the green principles around which they were designed and built.
Believe in healthcare for all
Since our founding in 1866, University Hospitals has played an active and integral role in Northeast Ohio, offering comprehensive healthcare to our neighbors, creating programs to improve overall community health and providing hundreds of millions of dollars in community benefit each year.
In addition, we’re making healthcare more accessible by opening Community Wellness Centers in neighborhoods where services and resources are needed.
Committed to training the next generation of healthcare providers
Great healthcare requires great providers. At University Hospitals we train hundreds of medical students, residents and allied health professionals each year. Our comprehensive medical education programs ensure that Northeast Ohio will always have access to the highly trained medical professionals they need.
Committed to Diversity and Inclusion
At University Hospitals, we strongly believe that the diversity in our workplace should mirror the diversity in the communities we serve. Through the work of our Social Justice & Equity Committee and the Office of Community Impact, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI), UH has played, and will continue to play, a role in unifying our community and caregivers. From diversity focus groups, to cultural competency training and workforce development, our efforts are robust and integrated.
In recognition of our efforts, University Hospitals was named to Modern Healthcare’s 2022 Class of Top Diversity Leaders, which honors top healthcare executives from diverse backgrounds and the organizations that have influenced policy and care delivery models across the country.
National Recognition
Everything we do is for the benefit of the community and our patients. We are proud of the recognitions and awards we have received over the years in appreciation of our efforts.
Inspiring Philanthropic Support
The accomplishments and loyalty of our hometown team have in turn inspired unparalleled support from the philanthropic community. Friends of UH in Northeast Ohio and beyond have recognized our efforts to transform healthcare with generous and often record-breaking financial support, topping $173 million in 2019.
