Chief Residents’ Message

Pediatric Chief Residents

Thank you for your interest in the pediatric residency program at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. As this year’s chief residents, we are excited to share the wonderful aspects of our program with you! Since 1891, UH Rainbow has developed into a world-class interdisciplinary patient care and research facility in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University. Our program has an incredible core of faculty as well as administrative support staff who provide residents with superior medical training. Residents engage in a wide spectrum of opportunities beyond patient care including research, medical education, advocacy, and global health.

UH Rainbow serves as a trusted hospital for our local community, as well as a large referral center for complex and rare diseases from a wide geographic region. Our outpatient resident clinic provides comprehensive resources to address not only the medical but also the social needs of Cleveland’s children and families. As graduates of this program, we know that our training has given us robust experience and leaves us well prepared for our future career endeavors.

One of our program’s greatest strengths is the collaborative and supportive environment from our residency program leadership, who demonstrate a strong response to feedback. We can connect with leadership through multiple routes, including town halls, our Residency Advocacy Committee, and annual class-based and all-resident retreats. There is a strong focus on wellness and viewing individual residents as holistic people beyond our work. The X+Y scheduling further bolsters a deep commitment to wellness.

The highlight of our residency experience at UH Rainbow has been the family of colleagues we developed. Within our classes, we found integral support and lifelong friends, spending time together outside of work, traveling together for vacations and international health trips. Together, we explored all that Cleveland has to offer – restaurants and breweries, award-winning MetroParks system, a wide variety of arts and culture at Playhouse Square, Blossom, Severance Hall and the various museums, and fan-favorite sports teams. Go Cavs, Guardians and Browns!

Thank you again for your interest in our program! We know that UH Rainbow is an excellent place to develop into a pediatrician and we have enjoyed our time here, learning and growing as people and doctors. We hope that you will find Cleveland an awesome place to call home – we certainly do! Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

We look forward to meeting you!
