The Division & Institution
The division is a participant in the Children’s Oncology Group, the National Marrow Donor Program and the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC). It contains a state-funded Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Center.
The division also has the largest Sickle Cell Program in the state of Ohio with involvement in multiple clinical trials. The Division runs a 20-bed inpatient unit on the second floor of the University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital which is ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in the country.
The Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute outpatient center is located on the 8th floor of Rainbow's Horvitz Tower. The expanded outpatient facility includes a dedicated Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Pharmacy and age-appropriate spaces for babies and children and adolescents and young adults.
UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is an affiliate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, which is recognized nationally as one of the top medical schools in NIH funding support. A full complement of pediatric medical sub-specialists as well as a nationally recognized NICU and an 18-bed PICU are on site. Additionally, pediatric surgical subspecialists at the institution include neurosurgery, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, general pediatric surgery, urology and others.
Many faculty members in the division are members of the NCI-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Multiple core services are available to members of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Division.
