Center for Developmental Therapeutics Identifies Novel Drugs for Refractory Cancer

The Center for Developmental Therapeutics at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute focuses on quickly translating scientific findings to identify safer, more effective drugs for children, adolescents and young adults with relapsed and refractory cancers. These cancers are the toughest to treat and have been resistant to previous, conventional treatments.

Novel Methods of Cancer Care

In most cases of relapsed or refractory cancers, there was never a cancer cure and treatment options have been exhausted. Through the Center for Developmental Therapeutics, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital will serve as a trusted partner for referring physicians, patients and families seeking new cancer treatments for children and young adults for whom conventional treatments have failed, particularly when time is of the essence. As the only institution to provide access to investigational Phase I and Phase II clinical trials in northern Ohio, our cancer specialists will be available for consults with referring physicians within northern Ohio, as well as those in other regions of Ohio and surrounding states.
