Help Me Grow

Help Me Grow (HMG) is the state of Ohio’s early intervention program for children from birth to age three. If you or your physician suspect that your child has a developmental delay (cognitive, physical, communication, social/emotional, or adaptive), Help Me Grow will provide a free developmental evaluation in your home. If your child is determined to have a delay, HMG will work with you to develop an individualized family service plan (IFSP) for your child. Your service coordinator can help you facilitate and participate in your child’s IFSP, coordinate the delivery of available services, and coordinate medical and health services. If your child is between the ages of 0 to 3 and has special healthcare needs, Help Me Grow should be the first place you call for information about any resources you need.

County board of MR/DD

Each county in Ohio has a board of MR/DD. These boards provide therapy and many other services for county residents. Services for children ages 0 to 3 are coordinated through Help Me Grow, and services for school-age children are coordinated with the school districts. Your local county board can give you information about many community resources in your county, and can often help with payment for these services. This is another great place to start for any resource need.
