Urology Residency Program Education & Training
Residents are the core of our rapidly-growing, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited urology program – which provides trainees with excellent clinical and academic skills.
Our newly-modified, six-year curriculum includes:
- PGY1: 6 Months of General Surgery & 6 Months of Urology
- PGY 4: Research Year (nonaccredited)
- PGY 2-6: 4 Years of Urology
Training in Urology
The University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Urology Residency Program offers residents rotations at University Hospitals Urology Institute, MetroHealth Medical Center, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center and various community hospitals. Our UH rotation is divided into adult and pediatric urology services.
Conferences
Trainees in our Urology Residency Program are expected to attend a variety of conferences offered by University Hospitals Urology Institute. These conferences ensure a comprehensive learning experience and an increased opportunity for the development of personal and professional skills.

Graduates from our urology residency program have broad exposure to various patient populations and hospital settings, including one of the top five children’s hospitals in the country, which makes our residents highly competitive within the field of urology.
