Education & Training
The Podiatric Medicine/Surgery residency program’s extensive training curriculum covers all phases of podiatric medicine and surgery.
The program has formal rotations in podiatric surgery and medicine, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, internal medicine, orthopaedics, pathology, medical imaging, infectious disease, wound care, behavioral science, physical medicine and rehabilitation and general surgery and a podiatric clinic/office rotation.
There are elective rotations in dermatology, rheumatology, vascular surgery and plastic surgery.
Academic knowledge is gained from a weekly lecture series, monthly journal club as well as case presentations and cadaver lab.

Year One
- Internal medicine

- Sports medicine (includes physical medicine and rehabilitation)
- Behavioral medicine
- Infectious disease/wound care (includes dermatology)
- Community medicine
- surgery (includes general, vascular, plastic, orthopaedic and podiatric)
- Pathology (lab)
Years Two and Three
Dedicated to hands-on, podiatric surgical experiences in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. The resident will also experience significant exposure to limb salvage and infectious disease surgical procedures.
Didactics
Didactics occur every Monday from 5:30 – 7:00pm
Cadaver Labs are required several Saturdays throughout the academic year. Residents participate in a weekly didactic curriculum, monthly journal clubs, weekly board reviews, cadaveric dissection labs and podiatric skill workshops.
Conferences
Residents participate in multiple didactic activities include North East Ohio Association of Podiatric Medicine Super Saver Seminar and ACFAS.
