The Division of Pain Management at UH Cleveland Medical Center, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University, offers a wonderful training opportunity with leading experts in the field of Pain Medicine with a strong emphasis on didactics and education.

Daily Schedule and Expectations
This fellow is responsible for the consult service as well as either clinic or the OR for the week. There is a resident that does the initial consult but the fellow is the first line of advice and guidance throughout the day. After clinic or the OR cases are done, the fellow will round on consults on the floors and units with the staff attending.
Afterwards, the fellow finishes work that may be leftover from the day (dictations, updating patient databases, ordering intrathecal meds, making the next day’s schedule. etc). Average time of departure ranges from 6 – 8 p.m., sometimes later and sometimes earlier depending on the day.
Assigned Reading and Case Preparation/Review
Each week there is assigned reading for the next week's conference. Usually it is one article and plan on about 30 to 60 minutes of reading.
The first several weeks there is significantly more reading as you are covering about 50 pages an evening. Plan on 30 to 60 minutes of patient/case preparation and review at night depending on how many patients you are scheduled to see the next day.
