Programs & Specialties
University Hospitals Avon Rehabilitation Hospital provides acute physical and cognitive rehabilitation for individuals 16 years old and older following stroke, spinal cord or brain injury, amputation or other illnesses and injuries.
Our hospital is designed to provide intensive rehabilitation therapy in a hospital environment for patients who have complex nursing, medical and rehabilitation needs and who require and can benefit from an inpatient stay.
A patient’s rehabilitation diagnosis must be medically manageable (i.e. stroke, amputation, spinal cord or brain injury, arthritis, burns, etc.). Other admission criteria may also apply. The clinical team works with each patient to determine their appropriate level of care.
Patients must be able to fully participate in and benefit from an intensive rehabilitation therapy program prior to transfer from the referring hospital – three hours of therapy at least five days a week.
