Marilee Gallagher MD, Longtime UH Rainbow Pediatrician and Alum to Retire
September 22, 2020
UH Pediatric Clinical Update | September 2020
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Dr. Marilee Gallagher – a long standing pediatrician at University Premier Pediatricians.
Dr. Gallagher graduated with honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1977. Considered a pioneer in the field of pediatrics with so few women at the time, Dr. Gallagher is a University Hospitals alum, completing her internship at UH Rainbow in 1978, and then residency at the Cleveland Clinic.
In 1980, she joined the Euclid Clinic (University MedNet) and became the practice lead two years later. When University Mednet dissolved in 2003, Dr. Gallagher joined University Premier Pediatricians serving as the site medical director – a position she has held consistently to the present.
Throughout her career, Dr. Gallagher has held numerous leadership positions – as a MedNet board member, as a pediatric clinical faculty member since 1980 and faculty chair from 1990 – 1992. Dr. Gallagher has also been an active member of the Ohio Chapter of American Academy of Pediatrics – including the practice management section, a group she often represented by giving presentations at the Annual Meeting. A three-time recipient of the UH Rainbow Faculty Teaching Excellence Award, Dr. Gallagher’s career has been marked by leadership and clinical excellence representing the best of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s.
Colleagues, patients and families adore her and if you asked her what makes the practice such a happy place – she would credit the wonderful colleagues she has had the privilege to work with for the past 40 years.
Please join us as we wish the best for Dr. Gallagher in her retirement!
