UH Innovations in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery - Fall 2018
Jason Thuener, MD, University Hospitals, Ear, Nose & Throat Institute, Division, Microvascular Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Assistant Professor, Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, not only did his internship and residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, but we were also fortunate he chose stay to complete his head and neck microvascular surgery fellowship training. This summer, Dr. Thuener became the sixth surgeon on the head and neck team.
Dr. Thuener will split his time between main campus and St Johns Medical Center, where he will work with staff on site to offer comprehensive head and neck services to Cleveland’s west side neighborhoods. “Investing in our community locations is critical to our patient-centric mission,” he says. “Our goal is to deliver top level care close to home.”
In addition to his specialization in complex head and neck reconstructions, including free flap procedures, Dr. Thuener’s interests include management of benign and malignant neoplasms of the head and neck. Soon he will also be the first and only UH provider offering sialoendoscopy, a novel minimally invasive treatment for obstructive salivary gland disorders and salivary stones.
“We are all very excited about having Dr. Thuener join us,” says Rod Rezaee, MD, Director of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at UH Cleveland Medical Center. “He is an outstanding and dedicated physician with excellent skills. Perhaps his best attribute is his level of commitment to resident and fellow teaching. We are lucky to have him.”
