High School Basketball Player’s Journey Through Difficult Injury Ends in Success
June 08, 2021
Meechie Johnson, Jr., injured his knee during playoffs for the Garfield Heights High School team in his sophomore year. As a top 30 player in the country and the No. 3 point guard, much was at stake for Meechie – including playing for a college and in professional sports. UH orthopedic surgeons James Voos, MD and Michael Salata, MD, repaired Johnson’s anterior cruciate ligment and both meniscal cartilages, allowing Meechie to continue to play – and secure a spot on the Ohio State University basketball team.
