Host a UH Mobile Health Screenings Event at your Organization
We look forward to partnering with corporate and community organizations in Northeast Ohio to bring the UH Mobile Health Screenings Unit with customized screening services to your organization.
Screenings You Can Offer at Your Event
- 3-D Screening Mammograms
-
Mammograms can find cancer when it is small and treatable. In fact, when breast cancer is caught early, the survival rate is nearly 100%.* 3-D mammography or tomosynthesis is the most advanced screening mammogram available and provides a more detailed image, making breast abnormalities easier to see, even in dense tissue. It can lead to earlier cancer detection, fewer callbacks and greater peace of mind.
The results will be mailed to the patient's referring doctor.

- Cholesterol Blood Test
-
A finger prick blood test that measures the amount of cholesterol in your blood. This helps your healthcare provider predict your risk of heart disease. Results available immediately after testing.
- Diabetes Blood Test
-
A finger prick blood test that measures blood sugar levels and checks for diabetes. Results of the mobile diabetes screening are available immediately after testing.
- Blood pressure checks
-
A reading which measures blood pressure. High blood pressure increases your chances of having a stroke, heart failure or heart attack. Results of the mobile blood pressure screenings are available immediately after testing.
- Osteoporosis screenings
-
An ultrasound scan of the heel to check for osteoporosis and determine if a bone density X-ray test is needed. Results of the mobile osteoporosis screening are available immediately after testing.
Our program coordinator will work with a designated point person at your facility to:
- Schedule your event on a date and time that works for your organization
- Determine which screenings (if any) you would like to offer in addition to 3-D mammograms
- Provide instructions related to scheduling mammograms and a physician’s order for event participants including a scheduling worksheet and the required paperwork.
- Send you a promotional packet that includes everything you will need to promote your event
FAQs for Event Coordinators
- How far in advance should I call to book my event?
-
We recommend that you call at least 2 months before you would like to hold your event as the vehicle books up quickly. You will also need time to promote your event and distribute the required paperwork to interested participants. Those scheduled for mobile mammograms may need time to meet with their doctor to obtain an order.
- What are the parking requirements for the Unit?
-
The vehicle is 38 feet long, 13 feet high and 9 feet wide. It requires at least two parking spots wide (16 feet) on-curb parking or at least seven contiguous parking spaces in a lot. Sharp turns cannot be made.
The surface on which the vehicle will be parked must be paved, level and free of any low-hanging tree branches. Given that the vehicle does not have restroom facilities on board, the parking location should be convenient to restrooms within your building.
- When will participants receive their screening results?
-
All screening results (with the exception of mammograms) will be given to you immediately after testing. Mammogram results will be mailed to you and the referring doctor.
- Is insurance required for the screenings?
-
With the exception of mammograms, insurance is not required for the health screenings.
- How do participants obtain an order for a mobile mammogram?
-
If you have a primary care provider, he/she can provide you with the order for your mammogram. If you don’t have a doctor, visit UHhospitals.org/doctors to find a provider near you.
- What should participants wear to the screenings?
-
Those who are having a mammogram, will need to undress from the waist up. Therefore, we advise wearing a two-piece outfit for convenience and comfort. Deodorant, perfume or skin creams should not be used as these can interfere with the results.
- How long do the screenings take?
-
A screening mammogram usually takes 20 minutes or less to be done. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Additional screenings can be done in 15 minutes or less.
- Do participants need to fast for the blood screenings?
-
No. The blood screenings offered will provide general information about your total cholesterol and glucose levels. Our technicians will likely ask you when you last ate and counsel you if your blood glucose levels are higher than would be expected after a recent meal.
- Is the Unit wheelchair accessible?
-
Yes.
