Patients may benefit from the latest investigational treatments by participating in clinical trials. For example, the Center is involved in a national registry for patients with treatment-refractory depression (depression that has not been successfully treated so far).

In addition, patients may have access to drug treatments that are being studied through research by the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center’s National Institutes of Mental Health “Bipolar Disorder Across the Lifespan” Center, the first funded Bipolar Center of Excellence in the United States.
