Acute Care Clinic
Sickle Cell Disease Clinic Offers Same-Day Care for Patients
University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center’s Adult Sickle Cell Disease Clinic offers an Acute Care Clinic for adults that is available on weekdays. Patients can call from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to schedule an appointment in the Acute Care Clinic, which is open until 7 p.m. Staffed by a licensed nurse practitioner, the acute care clinic provides same-day care and pain relief for patients from providers who know them. This allows patients to avoid visits to the emergency department.
Treating Sickle Cell Disease Symptoms
Our goal is to provide rapid and effective pain relief to adults with sickle cell disease. The acute care clinic treats other common symptoms of sickle cell disease including:
- Pain
- Dehydration
- Side effects from treatments (nausea and vomiting)
The Acute Care Clinic is not an emergency department (ED) and we do not treat life-threatening problems. Patients need a scheduled appointment (usually made that day), and we work with patients so our specialists can see patients rapidly for immediate care and relief of pain.
Location
The Acute Care Clinic is located on the second floor of UH Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Call the Adult Sickle Cell Disease Clinic office at 216-844-1582 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to schedule an appointment at the Acute Care Clinic.
