Offering Individualized Nutrition Assessments and Treatment Plans for Children
The expertise of the registered dietitian (RD) is essential in promoting optimal nutrition, health and well being.
Nutrition education for disease prevention and nutrition counseling (MNT) for chronic conditions provided over a series of visits are essential components of a comprehensive healthcare program. MNT provided by an RD can improve overall health and well-being with changes in dietary habits and lifestyle.
A dietitian at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital will provide individual counseling for infants, children, and adolescents with a wide range of nutritional disorders.
The counseling session will include a comprehensive nutritional assessment pertaining to the patient’s medical history, clinical status, growth, medications, laboratory data, diet history and/or nutrient analysis.
The intervention will consist of a detailed treatment plan, education and appropriate guidance materials for home use.
The nutritional assessment and treatment plan will be shared with the patient’s healthcare providers, to allow this information to be integrated into their overall medial care.
