Level IV Certification - Highest Rating by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers
Since 2001, the Epilepsy Center at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital has been recognized by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers as a Comprehensive Level IV Pediatric Epilepsy Center. It is the organization’s highest designation.
Level IV Differences
Level IV Epilepsy Centers are experienced at the most complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostics monitoring, as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological and psychosocial treatment.
Fourth-level centers also offer complete evaluations for epilepsy surgery, including intracranial electrodes, and provide a broad range of surgical procedures for epilepsy.
This accreditation is assurance that our epilepsy team offers the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options as well as access to the latest medications and advanced surgical therapies.
Benefits of Level IV certification include:
- Board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric epileptologists and neurosurgeons who work closely with teams of pediatric specialists in many related disciplines and specialties. Together, they develop individualized treatment tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
- Advanced research, clinical trials and promising new therapies on the forefront of medical science before they are widely available to the public
- Nationally recognized pediatric and adult epilepsy experts, ensuring a full continuum of care from infancy through to adulthood as part of UH Neurological Institute's Epilepsy Center.
