- Why Surgery: Early in my rotations in medical school, I started to categorize medical care based on how long it would take for me to help my patients. I found that I preferred being able to see and feel the tangible results that surgery provides patients in a short time span. The tactile nature of surgery and the sense of gratitude that often came from patients just days after the procedure drew me into the profession. I knew that however I helped my patients, the first steps had to start in the OR and I wanted to be the one standing next to the patient, taking action to given them a second chance at health and longevity.
