General Surgery Residency
Program Aims
The aims of the General Surgery Residency are:
- Prepare surgeons who have the broad skills set to practice general surgery
- Develop physicians who are effective mentors and educate other healthcare professionals and students
- Graduate surgeons who are committed to their desired surgical fields as demonstrated by becoming fellows of their national society’s organization if available and participating in that Society’s conferences and activities
- Graduate surgeons that value quality improvement in our profession and strive to improve care for their patients on an on-going basis
- Graduate surgeons who seek to improve healthcare inequalities within their local environments
- Graduate surgeons that recognize the importance of physician self-care and balance between work and outside interests
