Education Schedule

Departmental System-wide Conferences

Resident Education

  • Wednesdays, 8:00-10:15 am

Didactics are led by residents as well as faculty. We follow the SCORE curriculum to prepare our residents to manage complex patients and to perform well on board and in-service exams.

Grand Rounds

  • Fourth Wednesday of the month, 7-8 am
  • Currently hybrid. Will resume in Kulas Auditorium when possible.
  • Grand Rounds is followed by a a case conference and career development program with the residents and visiting professor.

Journal Club

  • Meetings are once a month, 7-9 pm
  • Dates are randomly determined. Participants are notified via email of dates.
  • Monthly event where medical students, residents and faculty come together to discuss peer-reviewed articles.
  • Currently hybrid. Will resume at off campus location (local restaurant or faculty surgeon’s home).

Morbidity & Mortality

  • Wednesdays (except fourth Wednesday), 7- 8 a.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in Kulas Auditorium when possible.

  • Thursdays, 4-5 pm

Colorectal Conference

  • Mondays, 5-6 p.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in UH Breen Women's Health Pavilion Conference Room when possible.

Gastrointestinal (GI) Tumor Board

  • Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in Lerner Tower B151 when possible.

Melanoma Tumor Board

  • Mondays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in Lerner Tower 3rd Floor when possible.

Med/Surg Conference

  • Tuesdays, 5-6 p.m. (sometimes 4-5 p.m.)
  • Virtual or socially distanced in Kulas Auditorium.

Pancreas Case Conference

  • Wednesdays, 8-9 a.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in Lakeside Conference Room when possible.

Rectal Cancer Tumor Board

  • Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in Lerner Tower B151when possible.

Sarcoma Tumor Board

  • Mondays, 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.
  • Currently virtual. Will resume in UH Breen Women's Health Pavilion Conference Room when possible.

Surgical Oncology Teaching Conference

  • Once a week with dates and times sent to the resident team in advance.
