Department of Surgery Medical Education Chairperson Welcome
At our primary teaching hospitals, UH Cleveland Medical Center and Louis B. Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, we are fortunate to have leaders in every surgical discipline. The excellence of our faculty has earned them national recognition and we are able to provide the highest quality of care as a result. In addition to the primary teaching hospitals, there are robust educational opportunities at the UH community-based hospitals within the health system. Across the breadth of our practice, we provide all types of surgical care, including:
- Bariatric surgery
- Cardiac surgery
- Colorectal surgery
- Diaphragm pacing
- General surgery
- Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery
- Minimally invasive surgery
- Surgical oncology
- Pediatric surgery
- Thoracic surgery
- Vascular surgery
- Trauma surgery / surgical critical care
- Transplant surgery
Our residency and fellowship programs are an integral part of the Department of Surgery while adding to the rich culture of education and research.
The teaching hospitals each have a dedicated and unique faculty with special expertise that enriches patient care, and each adds a different perspective to the educational experience.
Our faculty members continue to present and publish some of the best international clinical outcomes, based on their skill at optimizing the care they provide daily to their patients. The surgery department also has distinguished itself, both nationally and internationally, by its creative, innovative, hands-on and web-based postgraduate educational courses.
