The Women in Radiology interest group for the University Hospitals Department of Radiology, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), recognizes that significant gender disparity exists in the field of radiology across the U.S. Our mission is to improve the awareness of the value of diversity within our UH/CWRU Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program as well as the entire Department of Radiology. We actively create a welcoming, supportive and enriching environment for women in radiology. We also strive to support diversity in our field as a whole, including underrepresented minorities in radiology.
Current Action Plan to Support Diversity in Radiology
- Provide professional support and mentoring to female radiologists and radiology trainees (residents and fellows)
- Work closely with our radiology residency program to increase the number of female radiology residents
- Increase female representation within the field of radiology by mentoring undergraduate and graduate/medical students
