PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The UH Portage Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program will graduate highly skilled pharmacists with the tools necessary to provide quality patient care as members of inter-professional healthcare teams. Emphasis will be placed on communication, life-long learning, evidence-based medication management and safety during experiences in internal medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, ambulatory care, medication safety, pharmacy management and academia. The setting of a community hospital in the larger health system of University Hospitals, combined with a pharmacy team driven by innovation and entrepreneurship, provides the resident with a strong foundation in pharmacy practice and community outreach. The UH Portage Medical Center PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program’s focus on personal and professional development will allow graduates to succeed in a career as a generalist pharmacy clinician or PGY2 resident.
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program conducted by University Hospitals Portage Medical Center is accredited by ASHP.
