World Class Training in Epilepsy Care
The Epilepsy Center at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University was founded by Hans Lüders, MD, PhD and is led by Guadalupe Fernandez-Baca Vaca, MD, both internationally recognized epileptologists and educators. The Center features a collaborative team of both adult and pediatric epileptologists employing state-of-the-art technology and procedures to diagnose and treat epilepsy. The group works closely with a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons, neuropsychologist, neuroradiologists and geneticists to deliver cutting edge care to deliver excellence in the care of medically refractory epilepsy to patients both local to Cleveland and from all over the globe. UH’s global footprint and international reputation have made the Epilepsy Center a premiere institution for research and education.
The fellowship program is directed by Jon Zande, MD, and associate director Neel Fotedar, MD, both of whom have been recognized with senior teaching awards by the CWRU Neurology Residency. Alongside ample clinical experience, the fellowship features a didactic program that is second-to-none, and produces highly skilled academic epileptologists, who at the end of their training will emerge as leaders and experts in the management of medically refractory epilepsy, surgical epilepsy, and stereotactic EEG. Graduates of the program will be eligible for subspecialty board certification in Epilepsy through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). A majority of our graduates go on to careers in academic epilepsy, many founding and directing Level IV Epilepsy Centers across the world.
