2025 Summer Volunteer Program
UH Portage Medical Center offers a ten-week volunteer program for high school and college students over the summer months. Students are assigned to volunteer jobs throughout the hospital and affiliate medical sites.
Additional benefits for summer volunteer participants:
- Opportunity to have a half-day observational experience in a healthcare career area of their choice
- Exclusive monthly “Lunch and Learn” sessions to meet and ask questions from UH Portage Medical Center healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists or pharmacists.
Students must submit a volunteer application, interview with Volunteer Services and attend an orientation session. Students are asked to commit to one shift, 3-4 hours per week. Most volunteer experiences are assigned Monday through Friday with limited volunteer opportunities available evenings and weekends.
Note: Students with schedule conflicts involving more than two weeks of the program calendar should not apply. Returning students are given priority for scheduling assignments. Students are encouraged to apply early as assignment spots are limited. Applications should be submitted by Friday, May 2nd, 2025.
How to apply
Apply online through our Volunteer Services page. Minimum age to participate is 15. Please note that students under age 18 also need to print out a School Recommendation and Parental Consent form to be filled out and returned separately.
