EMS Education at UH Parma Medical Center
Since 1983, The EMS Education Department at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center has produced professionally trained, high-caliber Paramedics and EMT-Basics. Our faculty consists of 16 nationally registered Paramedics, who are currently active full-time in the field of paramedicine and firefighting.
More than 100 students graduate from UH Parma Medical Center’s program each year. Our educational opportunities include:
Basic EMT education is held multiple times each year, with both day and evening offerings.
- A 15-week daytime session is offered winter, spring and fall. Classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- A 21-week evening course is offered in winter, summer and fall. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Paramedic training runs for 13 months. Classes are offered twice each year and are held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Beginning in September: Monday, Thursday and every other Wednesday.
- Beginning in January: Tuesday, Friday and every-other Wednesday.
CPR Training and Certification at UH Parma Medical Center
UH Parma Medical Center’s EMS Education Department is also an approved training center by the American Heart Association for instructors and providers of CPR Training and Certification. Our department offers classes for:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Instructor Courses in ACLS, BLS and PALS
