UH Parma Medical Center Receives Silver Plus Recognition

Get With The Guidelines – Stroke helps hospital teams provide the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients. UH Parma Medical Center earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include aggressive use of medications and risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients. UH Parma Medical Center is proud to be among those top organizations recognized on the Silver Plus Honor Roll.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is an independent organization focused on the quality of services to meet every patient’s needs for the best possible outcomes. UH Parma Medical Center’s Acute Rehabilitation unit is CARF-accredited and has received special designation for the treatment of stroke patients.

Commission on Cancer Commends UH Parma Cancer Center

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) is dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life for cancer patients. CoC accreditation involves prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

UH Seidman Cancer Center at UH Parma Medical Center received accreditation from the CoC with commendation, affirming that each cancer center patient treated here is provided high-quality care and has access to an extensive variety of services and resources throughout their cancer journey.

Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Recognized by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS)

The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) is the largest organization for bariatric surgery in the world. Their goal is to continually improve the quality and safety of care and treatment of people with obesity and related diseases. UH Parma Medical Center ’s Bariatric Center was distinguished as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the ASMBS in 2014.

Highest Overall Surgery and Knee Replacement Surgery Ratings

A leading consumer advocacy organization, The Safer-Surgery Survival Guide, published an online report in July 2013, rating 2,463 hospitals in all 50 states. Along with healthcare consulting firm MPA, the Safer-Surgery Survival Guide analyzes Medicare billing claims and clinical records data for 27 kinds of scheduled surgeries. Together these organizations develop ratings for five types of procedures, including back surgery, hip and knee replacements and angioplasty to clear blocked cardiac arteries. UH Parma Medical Center earned the highest rating possible for knee replacement surgery.

Five Stars for Quality from CMS

UH Parma Medical Center was among four UH hospitals to earn the highest-possible quality rating in the latest scores from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS star ratings are intended to inform consumers visiting the Hospital Compare website of each facility’s patient experience, efficiency and safety. CMS reviews three years of data on readmission rates and mortality, and one year of data on infection rates, hospital-acquired conditions, and timeliness and effectiveness of care. We are proud of our Five Star CMS rating, which is achieved by a very small percentage of the nation’s hospitals.
