Volunteers are an essential part of the experience patients and families have at UH Ahuja Medical Center. They compassionately give of their time and talents to enhance the healing environment and deliver superior service to the community.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with patients, families, staff and the community. The UH Ahuja Medical Center Volunteer Services staff specializes in creating a personal volunteer experience that capitalizes on each individual's unique skills, abilities and desire to make a difference.
Volunteer Opportunities
Most volunteers say that the personal fulfillment, which comes from helping another person, is their greatest reward. Other volunteers look forward to the new friendships and camaraderie they share with fellow volunteers and staff members. Many enjoy learning new skills and contributing to the community. Regardless of whether you are volunteering to gain new skills, meet new people or lend a helping hand, the volunteer program at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center may have a volunteer position to meet your needs.

Getting Started
If you are interested in volunteering at UH Ahuja Medical Center, please take some time to complete the volunteer application.
After your application is received and references have been verified, you will be contacted by a volunteer services representative.
Program Requirements
- References: Two references are required for all volunteers and should be submitted prior to interviewing.
- Criminal Background Check: Volunteers 18 years and over are required to have a criminal background check to volunteer within the hospital.
- Health Screenings: Volunteers must comply with hospital health policies. All volunteers are required to show proof of a negative 2-step TB (PPD) test or Blood Draw TB test (Quantiferon, T-Spot) performed within the past 6 months. A 2-step TB (PPD) requires four visits to the clinic and the complete test will have a total of two negative readings.
- Compliance Training: All new volunteers are required to view the compliance training and submit certificate of completion.
- Orientation: All new volunteers are required to complete an online orientation, wheelchair training and quiz.

2025 Summer Volunteer Program
The Summer Volunteer Program is a great opportunity for high school and college students to gain experience in a health care environment. The program runs for 10 weeks from June to August. These hours help to build a student’s resume, college and scholarship applications and meet service hour requirements. Please check back in 2025 to complete an application.
Observation Program
The observation program at UH Ahuja Medical Center gives individuals interested in career in healthcare the opportunity to shadow a UH Ahuja employee to learn more about the field.
