Care for children with bladder exstrophy: Bladder exstrophy is a birth defect in which the bladder develops outside the fetus. The exposed bladder can't store urine or function normally, resulting in urine leakage (incontinence). The Bladder Exstrophy Program at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s addresses the various needs of patients with this condition, combining advanced surgical intervention with holistic, patient-centered care. This program introduces the radical soft-tissue mobilization technique (Kelly repair), a single-stage surgical procedure not previously available in Northeast Ohio. This program is a collaboration with Professors Imran Mushtaq and Marc-David Leclair, who bring their global expertise to the program.

Join world renowned pediatric urology experts Marc-David Leclair, MD Pediatric Urologist, Professor of Pediatric Surgery, Department of Pediatric Surgery and Urology, Mother-Child Hospital in Nates, France and Imran Mushtaq, MD Consultant Pediatric Urologist, Great Ormond Street Hospital in London along with UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology, Pedro Jose Lopez, MD to learn more about the program at UH Rainbow.
