Leaders in Cutting-Edge Aortic Specific Research
The UH Aortic Disease Center is one of just 11 national sites participating in the Rehearsal clinical trial, a multicenter, randomized study to compare the performance of endovascular AAA procedures with and without prior rehearsal using a virtual procedure rehearsal studio.
Appropriate patients treated for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) or thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm (TAA) with a Gore endovascular device are enrolled in the Global Registry for Endovascular Aortic Treatment (GREAT) registry, which is collecting 10 years of patient and device performance data.
The Aortic Disease Center participates in national and international databases to track patient outcomes and participate in research studies. Utilizing the Society for Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) databases, we are able to track outcomes for patients who undergo procedures such as open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR).
In addition, UH Cleveland Medical Center is one of the selected sites in the United States with three trials investigating the Relay PRO thoracic stent-graft in subjects with thoracic-aortic aneurysms and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcers, dissections and traumatic aortic transections.
