Message from the Chief

In 2020, 1.8 million Americans developed cancer, and more than 600,000 succumbed to cancer. Cancer continues to be the second leading cause of death in this country. Therefore, to become a world-class Division, we believe it is important for us to be on the cutting edge of discovery.

Through scientific research, we can have an even greater impact on our patients and their families. Therefore, at University Hospitals, we are investing heavily in this area. We have multiple NIH funded labs whose mission is to develop new therapies. We write, perform, and enroll patients in clinical trials. We have an active clinical outcomes research program. Perhaps most importantly, we are developing the next generation of scientific thought leaders.
