Preserving Fertility Prior to Surgery or Cancer Treatment
Some men choose to harvest and bank their sperm prior to treatment for certain cancers that may affect their ability to produce viable sperm, particularly lymphomas, leukemias, testicular cancer, prostate cancer and other genitourinary cancers. And for male to female transgender individuals who have made the decision to undergo genital gender affirmation surgery but would like to preserve their ability to father children in the future, sperm banking is also recommended.
The UH Fertility Center offers sperm banking, in-vitro fertilization and many other fertility-preservation services to our patients, both male and female.
