Musculoskeletal Imaging
Musculoskeletal Imaging and Radiology at University Hospitals Department of Radiology offers a wide variety of diagnostic services and image guided interventions for patients with orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions.
Our integrated clinical service serves the Department of Orthopedics, the emergency room and multiple outpatient imaging sites. We provide a broad range of diagnostic services spanning all imaging modalities including plain film, X-ray, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR). Frequently performed interventions include soft tissue and bone biopsies, joint aspiration and injections and radiofrequency ablation of benign bone tumors.
Empowering Through Education of Musculoskeletal Imaging
Our staff is dedicated to educating medical students, residents and fellows. We offer a popular musculoskeletal fellowship program that provides two fellows one year of subspecialty training. We give a weekly conference that includes both didactic sessions and unknown case conferences. We also actively participate in our institution’s orthopedic tumor board.
Advancements Through Musculoskeletal Radiology Research
Currently, multiple medical students and residents are involved in ongoing research projects within our division. These include the development of novel noninvasive imaging modalities for imaging shoulder labral pathology and treatment of early cartilage loss with intra-articular platelet injection among others. We are well represented at national radiological and subspecialty meetings presenting over a dozen electronic exhibits and giving multiple podium presentations over the course of the past academic year.
