Highly Specialized Trauma and Fracture Care
When trauma occurs, getting to the most specialized traumatic care - as soon as possible - gets you on the path to recovery right away.
Most traumatic injuries involve orthopedic trauma. Often the result of an accident, including sports injuries, orthopedic trauma can be life altering and requires immediate attention. University Hospitals’ nationally recognized orthopedic trauma specialists, also called traumatologists, are board-certified and fellowship-trained in orthopedic trauma and care for any orthopedic injury – from simple isolated fractures to severe life-threatening accidents with multiple types of fractures and injuries. Our orthopedic trauma specialists provide innovative trauma treatment options, always minimizing the effects of treatment so our patients can heal. Some of our most innovative techniques include:
- Improved bone-grafting techniques, including the innovative Ilizarov technique, which makes it possible to lengthen a normal bone gradually and fill in where bone is missing
- Skeletal realignments and stabilizations using closed, percutaneous, external and internal fixation techniques
